My YD-180 is from 1991, so at least with the new LSI PCB version from about 1985. If you look at the 1982 QumeTrak 242 brochure, you will see the difference between the nonLSI and the LSI version; see next picture.

My jumper settings (blue dots = jumper plugged); tested with my 286AT with WD1006V-MM2 (WD37C65BJM). I can access this drive normally as A: and also boot from it. I used the program FDFORMAT for formatting because it is able to process only 77 tracks!

The jumpers MM0 to MM3 are a special feature. With a jumper on MM0, the motor turns on as soon as a diskette is inserted and the drive is locked. This is actually the standard for 8" drives. However, if you set a jumper to MM1/2/3, the motor stops after 2.5 seconds if there are no more disk accesses. This is the normal behaviour with 5.25" and 3.5" drives. You can experiment a little. However, my experience has been that starting the motor is too slow and sluggish for DOS and the modern controllers. Reading errors often occur.

I have tested both the FDADAP adapter and my own PC-34 to Shugart-50 interface. Both work perfectly.

Issues

No known issues. This drive is NOS and works flawlessly.
